Sometimes I feel like I was born in the wrong century. I love stories of knights and battles and good vs evil and good winning in the face of unprecedented odds. I love stories of people rising above their station in life to do more, to be more, and to become. This idea of charging forward with only your bravery and a sword sets my imagination running at high speed. Madison with her flowing hair, Valkyrie features, and Viking height made the perfect warrior. It helped that when I took this picture Madison was less than 1 week away from leaving on a Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for 18 months. She was getting ready to leave her home, her family, learn a new language, and move across the US all because of her belief in something good. Actually, Madison more than belives, she knows. She knows her desire to share goodness will change lives. She knows the strength of her faith and her experiences. Madison would probably tell you she was scared, she may even still say she is scared. But I know she would also say that she feels like a warrior. A warrior headed off to battle the sadness, loneliness, and desperation of people who feel hopeless. Here she moves forward, stepping into light even though the path won't always be clear, her mission will be. She is brave,
an example,
and a warrior of truth and light.
