With all that's going on, with shutdowns, schools out, working from home, or not working at all we're all left with a lot of downtime. We've got, what feels like, time to spare. For some of us, we haven't felt that in a long time. I've been trying to be productive and complete all the little projects that have piled up. I've tried to spend time filling my creative soul bucket by reading and listening to beautiful and inspiring things. But, amid all that good stuff, I've found myself thinking about the things I should have been doing all along. Why is it now I see where I wasted time before this crisis hit? I think about all the photoshoots I wanted to do but put off and put off. All the trips I wanted to take but said another time would be better. All the group workouts I missed because I was too busy. The lunches with friends I always wanted to go to but never took the time to plan.
Elaborate dinners under the stars. Game nights, massages, business meetings, public gatherings, trips to the library- so much I could have been doing but didn't.
Here's the thing, this crisis isn't going to last forever.
This bazaar period of self-isolation/quarantining will not be how it's going to be. This will be over and I bet sooner rather than later. And when it is how will we be different? And we should be different . . . there is no way we have an experience like this and remain the same . . . I believe that would be terribly wrong. So for me, I'm going to do. I'm going to be more action-oriented. I'm going to make beautiful memories with incredible people and laugh and have joy and exist.
In the meantime, while we safely and wisely wait this thing out, I'm going to plan. I'm gonna plan for when this is over and I'm gonna do the things I wish I had done. I'm not going to get bogged down by the idea of planning till perfect cause there is no such thing. But there will be good times to make and friendships to build and beauty to create. So I invite you to get planning! Make plans to do things you've been putting off! You've got the time.
HUGE thank you to Brandi who helped me see more clearly the importance of moving forward and NOT putting things off. Brandi was nervous about being photographed and she had reasons not to go through with this. But she didn't listen to them. Together we made a plan and celebrated her . . . and just in time too.
Love,
Melinda
