"I keep photographing you during these really important moments in your life," I said to Sarah as my AC blew her curls across her cheek. "That's kind of amazing."
Sarah nodded. "It really is." "Whats this? The third time you've been in front of my camera?" I asked while twisting my light a little to the left. "Oh no, ma'am." Sarah grinned. "This is the fourth."
Four times I've photographed Sarah.
Four huge moments in her life where things were changing.
There is something special about being able to measure your life in pictures. You have a dedicated pause in time that stops everything and demands to be remembered. You see not just what you're wearing or the color of your hair, you see how you remember feeling. You remember how scared you were or how joyous you felt.
And then, like a trail of breadcrumbs, you remember your life and all the meaning and purpose you created.
And this is what Sarah does.
Her life is like a patchwork quilt: a bit here for community, a bit here for family, some here for beauty, and a little more here because that's just what it feels like should be done.
Sarah is embarking into the world of real estate with Coldwell Banker here in Athens Pennsylvania. All of Bradford County is lucky to have her.
If you know Sarah you are likely asking yourself "Why?".
And it's a good question given Sarah's management of Sayre's historic theater as well as her unforgettable artistic directing and designing at Sayre Plants 'n Things. And that's saying nothing of being a mom to five kids and a wife to her loving husband.
Why this?
"'Cause why not?" Sarah laughed and then got serious."In 2016 when me and Anthony had to rebuild our life we decided we needed a landing base for our kids. As we went through this house-buying process, and it took a long time, three years, we had friends who were also struggling to understand all the stuff that goes into buying your house. I realized I wanted to help other people in this process."
"I connect with people who have struggled or been knocked down. I want to sell them their first home. I don't need to sell the big, fancy houses. I want to help people find the house they build their families in. I want to sell people their first home."
Hard to top that, right?
Why do we ever do anything big or meaningful- because we are called to.
Sarah Brackel was called to make our valley of Sayre, Athens, and Waverly better. And she does it by being an uplifting part of the lives of this community. Sarah is there with expert advice on everything from children's dance recitals to the flowers you have at your wedding.
She's been a part of so much good and she keeps on making it better.
