I did it again! If you've followed me for longer than a few months you'll know that for the last few years I've been taking part in the Portrait Masters competition. To give a brief overview, this is where photographers from around the world enter their images to be judged by a panel of 5 estimated, legendary photographers. This competition is hard. The work that these photographers put into it is REAL. The skill level is out of this world.
The level of dedication and commitment to a single image is jaw-dropping. Because of all this, I'm constantly intimidated and shaking in my boots. My biggest fear is that I won't be as good as I was last year. What if my skill level dropped? What if I didn't catch something obvious and it lowers my score? What if my vision isn't as well communicated as I think it is? My questions are many and my worries are valid. I do make mistakes and miss the mark. I constantly come up short on the vision I'm hoping to capture. And it hurts and is frustrating when I see I'm not as good as I'd like to be. ALL that being said, this competition, these judges, help to ground me. They give me a clear view of where my skills are. What a breath of relief to realize my score continues to go up. Each round of the Portrait Masters shows my portraits, what I create for you and myself, is getting better. My skills are improving. My eye is sharper. My imagination is broader. And it's proven by these 4 stunning portraits. Each one was graded and judged by the exceptional eyes of true Portrait Masters. And each portrait earned a Bronze Award, proof that my images are of "a high professional standard of technique and communication." Thank you to those who helped me create these works of art!
